Booking Terms & Conditions
1) Booking Confirmation
a) Bookings are only confirmed once you receive a confirmation email from us.
b) If you do not receive a confirmation email, please contact our reception team directly.
c) Please ensure all booking details on your confirmation email are correct. Your table will be allocated for the time duration stated in your confirmation email.
2) Special Requests
a) If you have any special requests (such as dietary requirements, accessibility needs, preferred seating areas, highchairs, or bringing a dog) please advise us of these at the time of booking.
b) While we will always do our best to accommodate your request, we cannot guarantee specific tables or areas unless confirmed by our reception team.
3) Arrival Times
a) Please aim to arrive at least 10 minutes before your booking time. Due to the busy nature of our venue, if you are not here within 20 minutes of your reservation time, we have the right to forfeit your deposit and we cannot guarantee your table booking after this time.
b) If you are running late, let us know as soon as possible. We will hold your table for 15 minutes before it may be released to other guests.
4) Dogs
a) Service Dogs are allowed in all areas.
b) Non-service dogs are welcome in the Bar area.
c) For dog-friendly bookings for dining, please book via the reception on 01484 862912 to ensure you are seated in the correct area.
5) Children & Highchairs
a) Highchairs are available — please request at the time of booking.
b) We kindly ask children are always supervised for their safety and the comfort of other guests.
6) Allergy & Dietary Information
a) Please inform us of any allergies or dietary needs when booking or inform your server on arrival.
b) While we take every care, we cannot guarantee the absence of all allergens due to cross-contamination risks.
7) Parties of 8 or over
a) Parties of 8 people or more must book through our reception on 01484 862912.
b) Parties of 8 people or more will require to do a preauthorisation of £10 per head.
c) An optional service charge will be added for large groups. This will be clearly stated on your bill.
d) For parties over 8, a discretionary 10% service charge is added to the bill. This can be removed if requested.
e) Where a room has been hired for exclusive use, there is no charge for the use of the room but a 10% service charge will be added to the final bill.
8) Behaviour & Venue Policy
a) We want all guests to enjoy a relaxed and comfortable experience. We reserve the right to refuse service or ask guests to leave if behaviour affects the comfort, enjoyment, or safety of others.
b) CCTV operates throughout the venue for the safety and security of our guests and staff. Footage may be reviewed to help clarify events or resolve queries relating to behaviour, timings, payments, or incidents.
c) Any damage to property or disruptive behaviour may result in charges being applied or further action being taken.
9) Use of Personal Data
a) Your data is used solely for managing your booking and will not be shared with third parties.

10) Service Charges and Tips
a) For parties over 8, a discretionary 10% service charge is added to the bill. This can be removed if requested.
b) Where a room has been hired for exclusive use, there is no charge for the use of the room but a 10% service charge will be added to the final bill.
c) 100% of all service charges and tips are divided fairly between the staff who have worked that day.
11) Refund and Cancellation Policy
a) Refunds and Cancellations for parties of 7 or under
i) If you need to cancel or amend your booking, please let us know at your earliest convenience.
b) Refunds and Cancellations for parties of 8 or over
i) We do not take a deposit, but we ask that you provide credit card details for preauthorisation of £10 per head.
ii) If your booking is cancelled more than 48 hours prior to the reservation you will not be charged the preauthorisation amount.
iii) If your booking is cancelled within 48 hours prior to the reservation or you do not attend your reservation, your card will be charged the pre-authorised amount of £10 per head.
c) Refunds and Cancellations for Private Dining and Exclusive Room Hires
i) A deposit is required at the time of booking.
ii) Final numbers and menu choices may need to be confirmed in advance (usually 5–7 days).
iii) Deposits are refundable up to 7 days before your event.
iv) Cancellations made within 7 days are non-refundable, unless the space is successfully rebooked
d) Pre-paid Events
i) For dates where full payment or a substantial deposit is required in advance:
(1) Payments are non-refundable unless the event is cancelled by us.
(2) If you can no longer attend, we will always try to resell your seats as a courtesy — if successful, we will issue a refund
e) Refund Process
i) Refunds will be issued back to the original payment method using our secure Dojo system.
ii) Refunds are normally processed within 3–5 working days.
iii) Refunds cannot be issued in cash if the payment was made electronically.
f) Fairness & Discretion
i) We understand that unforeseen circumstances happen.
ii) If something unexpected affects your booking, please speak to us — we will always approach cancellations and refunds fairly, reasonably and with compassion.
Gift Card Terms and Conditions
1) General
a) These terms and conditions tell you about the legal terms and conditions which apply to your purchase and use of a The Dunkirk / The Fox House Gift Voucher.
b) These gift voucher terms apply to pounds sterling gift vouchers purchased online through the The Dunkirk website (https://www.thedunkirk.co.uk/), The Fox House website (https://www.thefoxhouseinn.co.uk) as well as gift vouchers purchased in person at The Dunkirk and at The Fox House, UK.
c) We reserve the right to update and change the terms and conditions of our gift vouchers at any time. This does not affect your legal rights. Use of your gift voucher constitutes acceptance of our Terms and Conditions and we therefore recommend you read them carefully. It is your responsibility to check these gift voucher terms from time to time to ensure you are aware of any changes which may have been made. The Dunkirk gift vouchers remain the property of The Dunkirk who maintains the right to cancel the voucher in its sole discretion in situations where it is deemed necessary to do so (such as to comply with applicable laws or as a result of circumstances beyond its control).
d) The gift voucher balance cannot be exchanged for cash or redeemed against the purchase of another voucher. Gift Vouchers are non-refundable.
e) The Gift Voucher is valid at The Dunkirk, Denby Dale and The Fox House, Holmfirth.
2) Validity
a) Your gift voucher is valid for a period of 12 months from the date of activation (which shall be the date of the gift voucher purchase, and for online, the date of dispatch of your order) following which they expire automatically. A gift voucher cannot be used after the expiry date. We have no obligation to remind or inform you of a gift voucher’s expiry and it is your sole responsibility to ensure that any balance is used prior to expiry.
b) Your gift voucher will be dispatched within 3 to 5 working days.
c) A voucher can be used as part payment and can be reused until the balance is zero. No change will be given.
d) Gift vouchers may be used to pay for the whole or any part of a purchase including all food and drink within the restaurant.
3) Lost / Stolen / Damaged Cards
a) You are solely responsible for the safe keeping and security of your gift voucher following delivery. In cases where your gift voucher is lost or stolen, The Dunkirk is unable to replace or reimburse the voucher. The Dunkirk cannot be held responsible for the any gift voucher involved in theft or fraud.
b) Should your gift voucher become damaged, The Dunkirk will be able to replace the voucher providing you still have the voucher in your possession and the necessary details can be obtained.
4) Governing Law and Jurisdiction
a) These conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. You agree, as we do, to submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
